My partner and I (Julissa) have dreamed of making this dream come to life for such a long time. I grew up surrounded by Dominican food and so much love, I was taught that food is love, it can always bring your family together, and it is the essence of your identity. Without the love and support of family I wouldn't be here where I stand, a Johnson & Wales culinary student. I struggle to pay thousands of dollars a year for my tuition and I risk having loans and having to pay for the rest of my life. But no one has struggled more than my partner and owner, Malik Kilgore, he was never handed anything in his life and didn't receive the same opportunities as I did. He has worked so hard his whole life and had to overcome adversity. So we have different views on life, but what connects us is our love of food and drinks and our passion to have a restaurant one day. We need help to fund Ducky's Cocktails + Restaurant, a unique take on beverages with different flavor profiles of the best fruits. This is the start of our restaurant and what we can afford for now. We're hoping soon after launching Ducky's Cocktails & Juices we can get started in opening our restaurant. Our restaurant will have Ducky's Cocktails as a part of the drinks and then our fusion food will pair greatly with it. With support and funding, we will be able to pay for the cost of a location plus upkeep, labor costs, raw materials, and payroll.

Our restaurant will bring out the culture of our Hispanic and Cape Verdean backgrounds. And it will be something different and will introduce an environment that gives people a lot of love and happiness.We want to be able to have a restaurant that can be a safe haven for people around the world. We want to give people love and the feeling of family when coming to our restaurant. We are going to be sustainable and reduce the amount of food waste that normal restaurants constantly do. We also know how important it is to give back to the community. We are planning to have community events where we can donate food to soup kitchens, local church, or community centers.  Even having donation cups in our restaurant. We want our restaurant to make a difference in people's lives and inspire a new generation of children to follow their dreams.  Therefore,  we are on here to say please support us and our dream and even if you have nothing to give, sharing is always the best help.
